India’s star batsman Virat Kohli is all set to play a match after a long gap at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla. This will be Kohli’s first international game in Delhi since the ODI he played in the state in March 2019. Talking about his last appearance in Test cricket in the state, it came five years ago; December 2017 to be exact. On his return to his birthplace, Kohli took his time to visit the stadium.

Sharing a picture of himself from the state, Kohli wrote: “A long journey back to the stadium in Delhi after a long time. Such a nostalgic feeling.”

Virat Kohli failed to score big in the first Test match between India and Australia as he was dismissed cheaply by Todd Murphy in Nagpur. The former India skipper fell victim to Australia’s first spinner on the very first ball after lunch as he was caught down the leg side by wicketkeeper Alex Carey for 12.

It was an unfortunate dismissal for Kohli as he was chasing after a wayward delivery and although the ball eluded Carey’s gloves in the first attempt, he managed to catch it.

India comfortably won the game by an innings and 132 runs.

Kohli will aim to get back on track with his much-anticipated Test hundred in the second game vs Australia, which will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The match will start from 17 February.
