Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic’s legal battle to stay in Australia and chase a record 21st Grand Slam began on Monday, but public online access was delayed due to a technical glitch, a court spokesman said.
Federal court spokesman Bruce Phillips said, “I have now been advised that the hearing has begun. The court is working to improve the situation. Sorry.”
Forty minutes after the case opened, the website providing public access for the hearing was still inaccessible, telling users: “Server too busy” or “Temporary disruption”.
The 34-year-old unvaccinated Serbian ace is fighting to overturn a decision to revoke his visa after arriving in Australia last week.
He has spent the last four nights at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Facility.
