The league phase of IPL 2021 has come to an end with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals meeting in the final league encounter (Match 56) at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday. Both the teams have already qualified for the playoffs and will be in a relaxed mood for the match. This will be the last chance for both RCB and DC to tinker with their playing XI to find the best combination before the playoffs. Delhi Capitals will end the league stage on top of the pile of wins or losses in this game. RCB have a mathematical chance of taking CSK to the second spot but it is very unlikely unless DC suffer a batting collapse like no other.

So, with not much to play for both the teams, perhaps some key players should be rested so that they can make a fresh comeback for the playoffs.

DC will be on their way to their 11th win this season, having lost just thrice in 13 matches so far in IPL 2021. They have been the team to beat in both the phases (India and UAE) this season.

Everything is going well for the Delhi outfit. After the good work done by the top-order for most of the season, middle-order batsmen like Shimron Hetmyer are also on top gear.

Bowling has been DC’s strength from the start and nothing has changed. Avesh Khan has been a standout but had a day off in the previous match against Chennai Super Kings. But spinners Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin made up for it with some excellent bowling.

RCB entered the game against DC after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad. They will be gunning to return to winning ways before the end of the trade.

Glenn Maxwell has been brilliant for RCB this season, and the Australian again smashed a 25-ball 40 against SRH. However, Virat Kohli failed to make an impact while AB de Villiers, who came really late in the innings, failed to go.

Surely RCB will take advantage of this opportunity to push the South African superstar upwards.
