SA vs India, 3rd Test: Virat Kohli’s chat with SA fielders after DRS appeal on Day 1 of 3rd Test goes viral

The first day of the third Test between South Africa and India lived up to the expectations generated by their earlier doubles in the current series. The ups and downs of the first day proved that the decider could be heading towards a fitting end to a well-fought series. Apart from the class of South African bowlers on display, the visitors were led by a confident Virat Kohli, something that reflected on his movements, footwork and mesmerizing strokes. However, the returning Indian skipper found himself in the middle of some chit-chat on the field on a few occasions. One such incident happened when a huge catch-back appeal was made against him off Duane Oliver’s delivery.

DRS showed there was a small spike on the ultraald, however, slow replays caught the ball kissing the cheese-pad instead of the bat.

While the Proteas players stood firm on their ground, quite surprised, Kohli and opposition captain Dean Elgar had a conversation, which later ended in nostalgia.

However, despite all the incidents, the image of Kohli standing in front of the SA players ironically showed how he was India’s lone fighter last night.

Reactions to that image came from all walks of life in cricket circles:

Kohli was eventually dismissed for 79 as he did not have partners at the end of the innings. India finished with 223 runs on the board.

In reply, South Africa were kept at 17/1 at stumps as they lost the crucial wicket of captain Elgar at the hands of pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
