A case has been registered against four senior karate players for allegedly thrashing a junior karate player for celebrating his birthday at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) hostel. An official gave this information on Monday. SAI center in-charge Kuldeep Singh Brar said the incident took place on February 4 when the 16-year-old player was celebrating his birthday in a hostel room and senior players allegedly thrashed him with rods and kicked him. A three-member committee was constituted by SAI to probe the incident on the complaint of the junior player’s father, he said. The committee found the senior players guilty of assault and recommended strict action against them.

Lordganj police station in-charge Sandhya Chandel said the incident was reported to the police and a case was registered under relevant Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections.
