Niroshan Dickwella reminded cricket fans of retired India captain MS Dhoni with his smart wicketkeeping skills in Sri Lanka’s first Test match against Pakistan at the Galle International Stadium. Dickwella showed amazing sports awareness to help his team get rid of Imam-ul-Haq in the fourth innings of the match on Tuesday. Chasing a target of 342, Pakistan got off to a solid start with an 87-run stand between Imam and Abdullah Shafiq before Dickwella’s brilliance behind the stumps gave his team their first breakthrough in the innings.
On the fourth day of the match, Ramesh Mendis bowled a good length off-spin delivery to left-handed batsman Imam. The ball went away from the batsman and he failed to touch it. After collecting the ball behind the stumps, Dickwella waited for Imam to lift his back leg and then immediately clipped the bails to effect the stumping.
