Bangladesh T20I captain Mahmudullah Riyadh will miss his team’s first warm-up match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday due to “slight back pain”. Bangladesh selector Habibul Bashar said that the team does not want to take any risk now before the T20 World Cup. “[Mahmudullah] Mild back pain. They will not have time to rest during the tournament when there will be back-to-back matches. So we are not taking any risk now,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Bashar as saying.

“He won’t play tomorrow’s match, we will give him some time. He is an experienced player, so he can take some rest and prepare for the tournament,” he added.

Bangladesh will begin their campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 against Scotland at the Oman Cricket Academy ground in Muscat on 17 October.

Speaking about the conditions in Oman, Bashar said, “The wickets in Oman are fresh. There haven’t been many matches in it. They are true wickets. The bowlers get good buys, and it’s good to bat. Not the spinners.” Karenge bahu baari hai hai. There is a lot of dew in the evening, so this was also important information for us.”
