South African middle-order batsman David Miller has said that he is relying on the advice given by Hashim Amla to succeed in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. South Africa will start their T20 World Cup campaign against Australia on 23 October at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. “The famous old saying is that you’re only as good as your last game, but Hashim always told me that you’re only as good as your next game. It’s about resetting the clock and mind, and controlling.” And trying to be really present,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Miller as saying.
“I have had the privilege of playing with him for many years and I think what I have learned from him is not to let failure get you down. We are striving for consistency in performance and off the field, be consistent Trying to stay. Individuals too. That’s what I really enjoyed about Hashim and his influence, being nice and calm, being a pillar of strength, the silent killer,” he said.
Talking further about Amla’s influence, Miller said: “He was about getting things done, but more than that, being good and consistent as a person. It’s been a good journey with him and I’m on the right track now.” I am also in touch with him and will continue to do so during this T20 World Cup for any advice.”
Miller was also part of the 2013 Proteas ODI squad that played in the United Arab Emirates, and now hopes to pass on the knowledge gained during the last two seasons of the IPL.
“In terms of leadership, it’s really nice to be part of the group and share our experiences. I think we have a lot to add to the field, we have learned in IPL, in the last IPL and when. We are here in Dubai I played against Pakistan for South Africa. Leadership is something that we are taking more and more for granted, and hopefully, it will play itself out in all the results,” said Miller.
