Pakistan registered a resounding victory against India in their T20 World Cup opening match at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. The Babar Azam-led side won their Super 12 match by 10 wickets and were aiming to consolidate their form in the upcoming matches. Chasing the target of 152 runs, Pakistan’s team reached 152 for no loss in 17.5 overs and Azam played an unbeaten innings of 68 runs in 52 balls. It was not just Babar who dominated the Indian bowlers chasing his target. The captain’s opening partner Mohammad Rizwan also remained unbeaten in the match and was on his toes with a 55-ball 79.

The ICC took to social media to share a video which revealed that Rizwan had planned his shot selection during a shadow batting practice session before the game. In the footage, the wicketkeeper-batsman can be seen practicing a few shots, which he successfully executed against Virat Kohli’s outfit.

ICC captioned the video, “Dream. Visualize. Execute. Mohammad Rizwan’s masterpiece Started before a ball was bowled”.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain also retweeted the video, writing, “This is excellent…”

Rizwan’s innings included six fours, three sixes as he shared a 152-run partnership with his captain. It was the highest opening partnership in T20 World Cup history and also Pakistan’s second highest partnership in T20Is for any wicket.

Initially, India posted 151 for seven with skipper Kohli top-scoring for his side. He scored 57 runs in 49 balls. Rishabh Pant made another notable contribution by scoring 39 off 30 balls.
