India skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his displeasure over the talks around the pitches for the India vs Australia Test series. The Nagpur pitch, which hosted the first match, became the talk of the town even before the series began. The Second and Third Tests took place in Delhi and Indore respectively, and the surfaces at both the venues also came under critics’ radar for the amount of turn given to the spinners. Significantly, all the three matches ended in less than three days.

Rohit feels that the focus should not be on the pitch but on the performance of the players.

He said, “I am not worried about the pitch. To be honest, there is a lot of talk about the pitch. Every time we play in India, the focus is only on the pitch. Why do people ask me about Nathan Lyon? Not asking? How well he bowled.” (Cheteshwar) how well Pujara batted in the second innings, how well Usman Khawaja played! Those are the things if you ask me, I can give you the details, not the pitch because we focus too much on the pitch here in India I don’t think it’s necessary, the India captain said at the press conference after the Indore Test.

Talking about the game, Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head stitched a 76-run chase as Australia beat India by 9 wickets in the third Test in Indore.

Ravichandran Ashwin struck early to dismiss Usman Khawaja on Friday but India failed to keep the pressure on the visitors.

On Thursday, Nathan Lyon took eight wickets as Australia bundled out India for 163, setting a target of 76 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara top-scored with 59, but Lyon’s figures of 8 for 64 nullified his efforts. Lyon took three wickets in India’s first innings.
