Smriti Mandhana will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League, former India captain Virat Kohli confirmed on Saturday. A video message was posted by RCB on social media with a special message from Kohli. “From number 18 to number 18, captain to captain, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis announce Smriti Mandhana – RCB captain for the Women’s Premier League,” the franchise wrote on Twitter. Mandhana created history by becoming the costliest player in the WPL auction after fetching a whopping Rs 3.4 crore following a bidding war.

“I am sure that our lady captain has all the qualities to lead RCB. All the best Smriti Mandhana. See you in the games,” said RCB skipper Faf du Plessis.
Mandhana also appeared in the video as she thanked the team management for their support.
He said, ‘I would like to thank the RCB management for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I am looking forward to receiving love and support from all of you fans who I am told are the best in the world. And I promise you to give my 100% to make RCB a success in WPL.
