Virat Kohli was seen having a conversation with umpire Nitin Menon after his controversial dismissal during India’s first innings in the second Test on Saturday. On the second day of the match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Kohli scored 44 before his innings ended in an unfortunate way. Kohli was hit on the fore pad by a ball from Australia’s suspected Test skipper Matthew Kuhnmann and umpire Menon raised his finger on the Australian players’ appeal. Disgruntled Kohli asked for a review.

The decision went up and replays suggested that the ball hit both Kohli’s front pad and bat simultaneously. To everyone’s surprise, the third umpire decided to go ahead with the assumption that the ball had hit the pads first.

Thus the ball tracker was brought into action and it suggested that the ball might have hit the leg stump. Given that umpire Menon had given it out, the final decision was as per the existing Laws of Cricket.

After the end of India’s innings and walking into the field for the second time in the game, Kohli was seen having a conversation with Menon, presumably about his dismissal.

Australia ended the second day at 61 for 1, but the Indian spinners dominated the next day.

Ravindra Jadeja took seven wickets while Ravichandran Ashwin took three as the hosts bundled out Australia for 113 in the second innings.

Heading into Sunday with a score of 61 for 1, Australia kept losing wickets as Jadeja and Ashwin ran riot together.

Given that Australia had scored 263 in their first innings, taking a one-run lead in the first innings, India were set a target of 115 runs to win the game, which they achieved without breaking a sweat.
