Women's Premier League: Kriti Sanon, Kiara Advani among celebrities to perform at opening ceremony

The most awaited inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League is all set to begin from Saturday between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The 22-day long series will begin with a grand opening ceremony in Mumbai. As per the latest update from BCCI, top-notch Bollywood celebrities like actress Kriti Sanon, Kiara Advani and others will put on some memorable performances in front of the crowd to mark the start of the historic series.

“The opening of the tournament will see Bollywood stars – Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon adding glitz and glamour. To top it all, singer-songwriter AP Dhillon will take the stage to perform some of his musical chartbusters, enthralling the audience.” BCCI said in a release.

Apart from this, the BCCI also informed that the first match has been rescheduled due to the opening ceremony.

“The opening game will resume and start at 08.00 hrs IST on Saturday. Toss will take place at 07.30 hrs IST,” BCCI said.

There will be a total of 20 league matches and two playoff matches and these will be played over 23 days. For the 87 women cricketers from 7 nationalities, it is a moment of reckoning for them.

The final match of the league stage will be played between UP Warriors and Delhi Capitals on March 21 at the Brabourne Stadium. The Eliminator will be played on March 24 at the DY Patil Stadium. The final of the Women’s Premier League 2023 will be played at the Brabourne Stadium on 26 March.
