No one will have an iota of doubt that Virat Kohli is the best batsman the cricket world has ever seen. Not only do the stats tell the story, but the difficulty bowlers face while facing Kohli tells how good a batsman he is. Be it a powerful and stylish cover drive or a dashing flick down the leg side, Kohli makes sure that he leaves a mark with some innovative form of batting in almost every shot he plays.
While his skill makes him a tough competitor, Kohli’s enthusiasm to give his best shot adds to the problems faced by his opponents.
Australian player Nathan Lyon has highlighted another major problem facing Kohli. The veteran off-spinner revealed that going up against Kohli in one game felt like going up against the entire nation.
“Coming up against someone like Virat Kohli, it’s like you’ve got the country against you. If you have a little bit of success and get Virat out or create an opportunity, you are one of the most hated men in world cricket.” Those guys become cricketers. I’ve got a bit of experience (on that front) bowling to Sachin Tendulkar many years ago.” Lyon said on Star Sports,
“Virat is a superstar, probably the best in the world for a long time. Credit goes to him for consistently performing at this high level. It’s a privilege to play against him. I also want to compete with the best.” The world and Virat have probably given the biggest challenge.”
Virat Kohli will be seen in action in India’s second Test against Australia starting February 17 in Delhi.
