New Zealand on Sunday overtook India to become the world’s number one Test team. The Kiwis achieved this feat by defeating England 1-0 in the two-match Test series on Sunday. New Zealand now have 123 points in the ICC Team Test Rankings while India have 121 points and are in second place. Australia is at the third position with 108 points while England is at the fourth position with 107 points. India and the Kiwis will face each other in the WTC Finals at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton, starting June 18.

New Zealand is also the number one ODI team in the world, while India is ranked third in the 50-over format.

Neil Wagner and Matt Henry took three wickets each as England were bundled out for 122 in the second innings, and finally, New Zealand won the second Test by eight wickets comfortably on the fourth day at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Sunday.

For New Zealand, Tom Latham and Ross Taylor remained unbeaten on 23 and 0 respectively as the team registered a comprehensive victory over the hosts. In the second Test, New Zealand made six changes, but every player who came in it performed with enthusiasm.

With this win, New Zealand won the two-match series 1-0 and will now confidently enter the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).

Chasing just 38 runs to win the match and the series, New Zealand did not get off to a perfect start as Stuart Broad sent Devon Conway (3) to the pavilion in the second over of the innings. Will Young (8) was also dismissed by Ollie Stone, but in the end Latham and Taylor gave the Kiwis an eight-wicket win.
