Watch: Cricketer hits six, breaks windscreen of own car

Illingworth St Mary’s cricketer Asif Ali’s six ended in a disaster for him as the ball broke the rear windscreen of his own car. The video of the same was shared by St. Mary’s on its official Twitter handle. The video’s caption read, “The moment you just hit a big six, it crashed through the windscreen of your own car. Make a sound to hear the blast.” In the short clip, Ali’s reaction can be seen when he realized that his shot had ended in a disaster for him.

The 27-second clip was a huge hit on the microblogging site as it garnered over 550k views on social media within 24 hours of being posted.

In the footage, the crowd as well as members of the opposition team can be heard laughing at Ali’s misfortune.

Illingworth St Mary’s Cricket Club also shared a picture of the broken windscreen of the cricketer’s car.

Responding to the post, a cricket enthusiast sarcastically said that it was the “right way to park in any cricket match”.

“Last time this happened. Car dealer didn’t charge any money for repairs. I think Kevin O’Brien hit that time,” wrote another user.

“Haha absolutely injured,” wrote another user.

“Good shots but bad timing for the car,” read another comment on the post.

Asif Ali is a British amateur cricketer. He was playing for Illingworth St Mary’s Cricket Club against Sowerby St Peters in Sunday League action in West Yorkshire when the incident occurred.

Ali tosses the ball with a big six. But instead of celebrating his big six, Ali kept nodding his head at the irony of the situation.


“While the ball was going towards my car, (I said) oh no, no, no – what’s going on?” Ali was As quoted by ITV News. “It felt straight on the screen, I was shocked.”

“I have been playing for this club for a long time but I never bring my car to the car park, it is always parked outside,” he said.
