Qualcomm has just released a new Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 series. It delivers 30% better performance than its predecessor ie. 8 Gen 1. According to the company, it provides 10% better CPU and GPU performance. Phones with this new flagship chipset have only been announced so far, and news about the company’s next flagship chipset has started pouring in. We are talking about Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

In fact, reports have surfaced that the company has started working on this new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Also, the more interesting news is that this will see a different cluster configuration. So far, all flagship chipsets have been based on tree cluster architecture, but this new chapter may come with four cluster configurations. It is speculated that Qualcomm may launch this new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset in December this year. The popular advisor Digital Chat Station talked about its unique cluster configuration. Currently, the flagship chipset has a tree-like cluster architecture (1+3+4), i.e. 1 main core, 3 performance cores and the remaining 4 energy efficient cores. But in this new chipset, these eight cores will come in a 1 + 2 + 2 + 3 configuration.

According to the Digital Chat Station post, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be manufactured by TSMC and will come in a 1+2+2+3 configuration. However, the manufacturing process will remain the same 4nm. It will have Makalu core core. Here it is called Makaalu’s new Cortex CPU 2022. The main cores will be Cortex-X3 (Makalu), 2 Cortex A720 (Makaalu), 2 Cortex A720 (Matterhorn) and 3 Cortex-A510 (Klein R1) cores. We may see this in a new smartphone in December 2022 with the Adreno 740 GPU.
