New developments are always happening in the automotive sector. But when you hear that in the coming times only cars without steering will replace the old cars, then you will also be shocked. The Chinese company Baidu has raised the concerns of India, America and other countries by revealing this. Obviously, with the advent of this technology, this country will be far ahead of other countries.

Chinese search engine company Baidu Inc on Thursday unveiled its automated vehicle (AV) with a movable steering wheel. And it plans to use it next year for its robotic taxi service in China by 2023.

“This huge cost reduction will enable us to deploy tens of thousands of AVs across China,” Baidu CEO Robin Li said at the Baidu Global Conference. “We’re moving towards a future where taking a robotic taxi will be half the price of taking a taxi today.”
The new vehicle will have Level 4 autonomous capabilities that will not require human intervention, with the car featuring 8 lidars and 12 cameras.

The company does not reveal the manufacturer of the new model.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk told an investor conference in April that the company aims to begin mass production of its Robotaxi without a steering wheel or pedals in 2024, and predicted that a Robotaxi ride would be more than a bus ticket. It will cost less.

At the conference, Baidu Senior Vice President Li Zhenyu said that the vehicle will hit the roads without a steering wheel once the Chinese authorities approve it, adding that the driving ability of Baidu’s new AV is an experienced person with 20 years of experience. may match the driver. Its rivals in this space include Toyota Motor and Viride-backed Pony.ai, which has received investments from Nissan Motor and Guangzhou Automobile Group.

Baidu’s robotic taxi service Apollo Go has served more than 1 million in 10 Chinese cities since its launch in 2020, and Baidu said in April that it was to deploy unmanned robotic taxis in the driver’s seat on Beijing’s open roads. Permission received.

what is the price

The unit price for the new model will be cut to 250,000 yuan ($37,031.55), compared to 480,000 yuan for the previous generation, Baidu said in a statement. That is, if you see its value in rupees, then it can be more than Rs 24 lakh. However, it has not been revealed when this car will be launched in India. It is said that when the company launches the vehicle here, then it may plan to launch its upcoming project again in other countries.
