Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) Smart Display with Multi-Room Control Launched in India


Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) was launched in India on Wednesday. It has an edgeless glass display that can double as a digital photo frame. Google’s Smart Display features the same audio technology as Google Nest Audio, giving it a 50 percent increase in bass compared to the original Google Nest Hub. The search giant’s second-generation smart display also features multi-room controls, making it easy to group multiple Cast-enabled Nest devices. The Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) is constructed using recycled materials.

Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) is priced at Rs. 7,999. Google’s latest smart display is available for purchase from Flipkart, Reliance Digital and Tata Cliq. Google has mentioned that the new Nest Hub will be available through more retail outlets later this year. It is available for purchase starting today, January 12, and is offered in chalk and charcoal color options.

Features of Google Nest Hub (2nd Generation)

The second-generation Google Nest Hub has an edgeless display, and when not in use, doubles as a digital photo frame. Google mentions that the new Nest Hub is constructed using recycled materials. Its plastic mechanical parts contain 54 percent recycled plastic after consumer. The edgeless display also features a floating design, with no plastic housing at the front.

For audio, the Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) has the same audio technology as Google Nest Audio. It also boasts of a 50 percent increase in bass compared to the original Google Nest Hub. It also has support for Apple Music, Gaana, JioSaavn, Spotify and YouTube Music. In addition, users can also stream video content through YouTube and Netflix. Google Assistant now has a third microphone to let users hear better.

The Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) also has multi-room controls that let it group with other Cast-enabled Nest devices such as speakers, smart displays, or Chromecasts. It also works with the new connectivity standard – Matter – which was created by the Connectivity Standards Alliance to simplify the control of smart home devices.

Google’s smart display has been designed keeping in mind the privacy of the users. It focuses on protecting user information, behaving responsibly, and keeping the user in control. Like the original Nest Hub, the second-generation Google Nest Hub also lacks a camera, and the microphone can be turned off using the slider on the hardware on the back of the device.
