Hootee is a new voice based social media platform, launched by film star Rajinikanth. The app is founded by his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth as a voice based social platform. Hootee is said to currently support eight native Indian languages and three international languages. Indian languages include Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and Gujarati. The platform allows users to express themselves in voice notes, add background music to their Hoot posts, and add images to express themselves better.
The Hoot app is available for free download on the Google Play Store. The app asks you to choose your preferred Indian or International language on boot, and then gets directly into the registration process. It gives you options to follow celebrities like Rajinikanth, Gautam Gambhir, news channels, politicians and fan pages. Hoot posts from users you follow will appear in your feed. Voice note can be paused and played easily. Hoot posts can also be liked, reposted and reshared. Users can also comment below hoot posts to increase engagement.
Hoot allows users to record voice notes for up to 60 seconds only. Once the recording is complete, users can add a caption, background music and an image to the Hoot post. The stage offers a variety of background music to choose from. Music is divided into categories such as emotions, environment, nature, religion and origin. Users can preview these background music options to understand which voice note best suits them.
Hoot also provides the option to turn off comments if needed. However, comments are turned on by default. Caption must be 120 characters or less. Users can also easily remove their hoot posts from their profiles by tapping on the profile icon.
