Social media giant Instagram has announced the launch of a pilot program that will eliminate recent tabs from hashtag search results.
According to a report by Mashable, Instagram also claims its redesign as the basis for connecting individuals to more information about social movements involving hashtags.
The company has decided to prioritize the presentation of recent posts and reels in the main display.
“We are experimenting with some innovative ideas to make hashtags as useful to people as possible. We are testing additional current and accurate data for a small group of hashtags under the ‘Top’ and ‘Reels’ tabs , and the ‘Recent’ tab,” Instagram said in a statement obtained by the publication.
“We want to test whether this lets people engage with more engaging and relevant content on hashtags,” the company said.
According to the outlet, the purpose of this experiment is to find strategies to prevent growth hackers from taking advantage of the trend.
