In today’s era, smartphones have become an essential part of our lives. But do you know that there are many such features in our phone that we still don’t know about. These are the functions that can facilitate our work or use of the phone. Today we will tell you such useful phone tips and tricks with the help of which you will be able to use your smartphone smartly. Let’s start.

split screen mode

Most Android smartphones support split-screen or multi-window mode. With this, you can work on two applications at the same time. To use split screen mode, just open the first app and press and hold the recent apps button to choose another app to launch. This can be useful for multitasking, such as checking your email while watching a video, or copying and pasting between different apps.

The screen recording feature allows you to record a video of what’s happening on your screen. This can be useful for creating tutorials or troubleshooting your phone.

To use the screen recording feature on an Android smartphone, follow these steps:

  • Open the quick settings panel down from the top of the screen.
  • Look for the screen recording icon (the camera with a dot) and tap it.
  • Depending on your device, you may be asked to allow the device to record audio and video.
  • Once you give permission, you will see a countdown and then the recording will start.
  • To stop recording, pull down the quick settings panel again and tap the screen recording icon. This will save the video to your gallery.

Note: Screen recording is a different function depending on the device model and Android. Some devices may not have the feature built-in, in which case you can download a screen recording app from the Google Play Store.

All Android phones come with a built-in voice assistant – Google Assistant, which can help you complete tasks, set reminders and even control other smart devices in your home.

quick app switching

If you use gesture controls, then you can quickly switch from one application to another. Swipe right anywhere on the bottom of the screen. This will quickly return you to the most recently used application. From there, you can click right again to go back or swipe left to go back the other way.

Application shortcuts

These shortcuts are completely hidden and all you need to do to use them is to press and hold the app icon. By doing this you will get some useful options in the app without opening an app you can directly go to its menu and use the app.

Note:- The feature works with most apps including Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Calendar and shopping apps like Flipkart and Amazon.

Manage default applications

While using your phone, you may get some pop-ups appearing on your phone screen again and again to set a default app. To change or manage default apps on an Android smartphone, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > Apps & notifications.
  • Go to Default Apps or Advanced, then tap Default Apps.
  • Select the default app you want to change, such as the default web browser, phone app, or SMS app.
  • Select the app you want to use as default.

Disable/Uninstall Bloatware

Most smartphones come with pre-installed apps that you may not want to have on your phone. You can get rid of them to disable or uninstall bloated software on Android smartphone, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > Apps or Apps & notifications.
  • You will get a list of apps, find the app you want to disable or uninstall and select it.
  • If you want to force stop/disable the app, tap “Force stop/disable”.
  • If you want to uninstall the app, tap Uninstall.

Note: Some apps may not be disabled or uninstalled because they are system apps that are essential for the device to function properly.

pinning the screen

If someone asks your phone for calls or other things, but you don’t want them poking around in your phone, use the Screen Lock feature. When you pin an app, you can protect your phone from switching apps.

To enable screen pinning on an Android smartphone, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > Security & location > Screen pinning.
  • Turn on the “Screen lock” switch.
  • Open the app you want to pin to the screen.
  • Tap the Overview button (the square button on the navigation bar).
  • Tap the pin icon you will see on the screen (usually represented by a thumb or a pin).
  • The device will display a message indicating that the screen is frozen and how to exit the frozen mode.

guest mode

When you want to give someone else access to your phone for work, but want to keep your personal information private, you can use Guest Mode.

To enable guest mode on an Android smartphone, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > Users & Accounts > Users. Tap on Guest Mode.
  • This will switch your device into guest mode and you will see a message indicating that you are in guest mode.
  • In guest mode, only default Android apps are visible, which disables any apps that may contain your personal information.

Note: Guest mode feature availability may vary by device model and Android version. On some devices, you may need to go to Settings > Security & location > Screen pinning to find the Guest mode option.

Find my phone

Getting your phone stolen or lost somewhere is common these days. But it can also be very dangerous as your personal information is stored in your phone which can be misused by anyone. In this case, you can use the Find My Phone feature to locate your phone.

To use the Find My Phone feature on an Android smartphone, follow these steps:

  • Go to the Android Device Manager website (https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager) and sign in with your Google account. Enter important information requested there.
  • You will see a map. Find your device on the map on it.
  • If your device is turned on and connected to the Internet, you can use the following options:
  • Play sound: This will continue to ring your phone for 5 minutes even if it is set to silent or vibrate mode. If your phone is somewhere in your home then you can find your phone with this mode.
  • Lock: This will lock your phone and display a message with your contact information on the lock screen.
  • Wipe: This will wipe all data on your phone including apps, settings and personal data so that no one can misuse your phone.

Note:- To use the Find My Phone feature, you must already have the feature enabled and your device must be connected to the Internet. You can turn this feature on by going to Google Settings on your device.
