According to a report, Google has started removing the Android Auto screen from the phone after almost seven years. In August last year, Google confirmed that it would be discontinuing the standalone Android Auto for phone screens from Android 12 onwards. Earlier this month, a popup message purportedly appeared for some users saying that Android Auto for the phone screen would soon stop working. At that time Google did not give the date of closure, but now the news of its disappearance has started coming.
According to a report by 9To5Google that cites a post on Reddit, Google has started shutting down Android Auto for the phone screen. The application was launched back in 2015 and now it is coming to an end after almost seven years. The report states that Google Assistant driving mode will replace Android Auto for the phone screen. The move is reportedly being dubbed as an attempt to get users into Google Assistant driving mode.
In August 2021, Google announced in a statement that the tech giant would be pushing users who want the phone experience to Google Assistant driving mode starting with Android 12. What Google calls Driving Mode is a built-in mobile driving experience.
