YouTube Music Rolls Out Support for Android 12’s Media Recommendation Feature: Report

YouTube Music has reportedly started rolling out support for Android 12 media recommendations that shows recent albums and playlists, allowing users to start music playback directly. The report states that the new update will show users three recently played tracks in the compact card, while opening the quick settings will show six songs. It is also said that the compact card is visible when the smartphone is locked. YouTube Music’s notification card has an option to shuffle tracks and shortcuts to a user’s offline mixtape.

According to a report by 9To5Google, YouTube recently started rolling out an update for YouTube Music with support for Android 12’s media recommendations. With the new update, media recommendations are said to automatically appear after a user has connected an audio device over Bluetooth. , like headphones or speakers.

The report states that the YouTube Music application icon and name will appear in the upper-left corner, along with three recently played tracks towards the right corner when the information card is in compact form. On the other hand, opening Quick Settings is asked to show the six most recently played tracks. As per the report, the compact card is also visible on the lock screen of the smartphone.

The report adds that users can start playing tracks in the background on the YouTube Music application with a single tap, which will also show them the Now Playing controls. Playback recommendations are said to be visible only for a few minutes and after that, users will have to swipe up to access them again. These recommendations will reportedly appear after playback controls and starts playing a different track. According to the report, the Shuffle button and shortcut to start the downloaded offline mixtape will also appear in the notification card.

Users can disable recommendations for the YouTube Music notification card by going to Settings > Sound & Vibration > Media > Turn off Show Media Recommendations,

The new YouTube Music update is said to be more widely visible for Google’s streaming service than before, and some Spotify users have already noticed. The report assumes that the notification card will be visible in full height on Android 13.
