Agra University: Students trapped in Agra University’s Sanskriti Bhavan elevator, life blocked for 2 hours
Sanskriti Bhavan is surrounded by corruption allegations
The newly constructed building of Ambedkar University of Sanskriti Bhavan. 42 crores were spent to make it. The then vice-chancellor, Arvind Kumar Dixit, who built the five-storey building, was accused of corruption. Gaurav Sharma, former president of the University Students’ Union, says there was extreme manipulation in the construction of the building. Students come here to study at the risk of their lives. Iron stairs were installed from the outside in the five-story building. Accidents have happened here on several occasions. Neither the NOC was taken from the fire department, nor the plan was approved by the building authority.
Tiles had fallen from the fifth floor
Former Student Union President Gaurav Sharma said that although 42 crore was spent on Sanskriti Bhawan, the construction works were carried out with very poor quality. Two months ago, tiles fell from the fifth floor of this building. Luckily no one was hurt, if the tiles had fallen on anyone it could have been life threatening. He said that even before that, many students were trapped in the elevator.
The governor inaugurated twice
Sanskriti Bhavan was inaugurated by Governor Anandiben Patel in March. She had come to Agra for the convocation of the university. Earlier also he had inaugurated this building.
