Entrance to the Taj Mahal will be free on Shah Jahan Urs

Sunil Saket, Agra: There will be free entry to Taj Mahal for 3 days on the occasion of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s Urs. The Taj Mahal will be open on Friday also on the occasion of Urs. Admission to the Taj Mahal will be free on February 17, 18 at 2 p.m. and February 19 all day. The original tombs of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal will be opened on the occasion of Urs. Tourists will be able to visit the real tombs for free.

Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s 368th Urs begins on February 17. The Urs will begin after the opening of the main tombs from 2 p.m. Syed Ibrahim Zaidi, chairman of the Urs committee, said that on the first day there would be Rituals of Anger and Milad Sharif. Sandal Ceremony, Mushaira and Qawwalis will be performed on February 18. The Kul Sharif ceremony will be held on the morning of the 19th. After that, programs of Chadar Poshi, Tilawat of Fatiha Quran will be held.

Why are real graves open

The original tombs of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Begum lie under the main dome of the Taj Mahal. The superintendent of the archeology department, Rajkumar Patel, said it had been happening all along on Urs of Shahjahan. The original tombs are opened on the occasion of Urs. The law of the archaeological department does not break traditions. On February 17 and 18, from 2 p.m. and on February 19, the entrance of tourists to the Taj Mahal will be free.

The longest sheet will be covered on the Taj

The longest chadar will be offered this year also by Tahir Uddin Tahir of the Bazm-e-Khaddam Committee. Apart from that, people from all over the city also arrive to make sheets, gulposhi and offer feathers. Sadar Haji Rasheed of Shahi Masjid Fatehpur Sikri said that on February 19, a bouquet of flowers will be offered to people of all religions.
