Ghaziabad: Those returning home to Holi from Delhi-NCR need to loosen their pockets. As always, this time too the people of Delhi-NCR are having a lot of difficulty getting to their home town. Trains, buses, planes are full to bursting. Taxis also charge triple the fare. In such a situation, brokers have become active in many places. The NBT team reached the Kaushambi depot on Friday to take stock of the situation. Private bus drivers were taking advantage of the crowds here. Their touts take passengers on buses giving them all kinds of incentives. In return, they extort huge sums from the people. What is surprising is that despite knowing everything, the road workers and the police are not aware.

Taking double the rent, also promised to provide all facilities

At this time, the crowd shifted from trains to buses. There is a long struggle to get tickets. When the NBT reporter arrived at the Kaushambi depot on Friday afternoon, she spoke to a tout who picks up passengers there. He said his bus was standing at the petrol pump behind Bhowapur heading for Delhi. Their bus is mostly long distance. When NBT inquired about the fare to Bihar Patna, the broker first quoted the fare of 2000 tickets, in which he claimed to be seated in buses with good seats, including water bottles and toilets.

Later, when asked to reduce the rate, the broker fixed the problem at 1500. The broker even said that if there were more people with the passengers, he would even get electric rickshaws from his side. Also said that a day or two before Holi, this fare can reach up to 4000.

Rates are fixed for short and long distances

Dalal said his name was Dilip Singh in a conversation with an NBT reporter. Dilip said that for long distance buses, the fare of 1500 to 1800 is taken. 1000 to 1200 rupees are taken for short distance buses. Dalal even maintained that his buses are more comfortable than road buses. While they are the only ones getting AC installation in highway buses.

Private buses picking up passengers outside Kaushambi depot

Passengers were also found waiting for private buses outside the Kaushambi bus depot instead of the roads. They have already been explained that no matter how crowded the bus is, once the bus arrives, they should board quietly. When the bus starts moving, their seats will be arranged. Standing outside the Kaushambi bus depot, Rajan said he lives in Maharapur. Waiting for a private bus. Which will pass soon. In a short time, two to three private buses arrived and took the passengers one by one outside the Kaushambi depot.

An illegal bus stop is built on the street near Gyani border

In view of Holi, a bus stop was illegally built on the street near the Giani border. This stand is built just 50 meters from the Giani Border Police outpost. Buses are available from here to areas like Aligarh, Moradabad, Meerut but their drivers stand outside the auto stand and close to metro stations like Shaheed Nagar, Dilshad Garden so they can receive passengers.

The police charged, clarification came

Kaushambi Depot’s ARM Shiv Balak said that a week ago we wrote a letter to the police regarding encroachment on the bus stop, active touts, etc. to help the roads. Three days ago, a broker was handed over to the police even after being arrested, but the police do nothing. On the other hand, Manish Bisht, SHO of Link Road Police Station has a different claim in this case. They say we received a letter from the roads, but it’s only related to the encroachment. The officials said nothing about the brokers. If there is a problem with the brokers, we will talk about it and take action.
