After the broad daylight killing of Umesh Pal in Prayagraj, police have become vigilant in all corners of Uttar Pradesh. This is why when Mahant complained about receiving threats in Ghazipur, the police team immediately took action. In fact, Mahant Pappu Giri, a resident of Ghazipur, had reached SP Ghazipur Omveer Singh on Friday and begged him for the safety of his life. Mahant said he was threatened by Mukhtar Ansari shooter Angad Rai for not testifying in an extortion case in 2009. In such a situation, he fears something similar to the murder of Umesh Pal, who witnessed the murder case of Raju Pal in Prayagraj, may happen to him.
After receiving the complaint, the Ghazipur police began to crack down on close associates of Mukhtar Ansari and their shooters. Police also raided the home of Angad Rai, Mukhtar Ansari’s special gunner, late in the evening the day before and questioned his family and those around him. Angad Rai is free on bail in connection with the murder of BJP leader Rajendra Rai, a prominent representative of the Bhavarkol bloc. During Angad’s time in prison, his wife Sarita Bhavarkol became the block leader. In the matter, on Friday, the police commissioner also said that to keep an eye on these criminals, the police officers of the relevant police station were instructed to search their homes and monitor them.
