Pramod Pal, Gorakhpur: Two large processions have been held on the occasion of Holi in Gorakhpur for several years. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave his consent to the organizers to participate in the two processions, one on the evening of Holika Dahan of Pandeyhata and the other on the day of Holi. Gorakshpeeth has been participating in these processions for several years, which continue unabated. People from different societies and communities participated in this procession without any discrimination, which presents a fine example of social harmony.

This tradition of Shobha Yatra has been going on for years
Since 1927, Holika Dahan Samiti from Pandey Hata on the evening of Holika Dahan and since 1944 from the intersection of Ghantaghar on the morning of Holi, under the banner of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh, both the traditional Shobha Yatra, in addition to the participation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as Gorakshpeethadhishwar, Gorakshpeeth Part of spreading the message contained in the original. Holi, the celebration of enthusiasm and cheerfulness symbolized by colors, is part of Gorakshpeeth’s social harmony campaign.

This tradition of Gorakshpeeth is beyond all discrimination
Untouchability, caste discrimination and bridging the gap between up and down have always been mentioned in the features of this bench. Public welfare beyond social harmony and discrimination is at the heart of Nathpanth and the flag of this campaign extended by Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath, Brahmalin Mahant Avedyanath is currently hoisted by Gorakshpeethadhishwar, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath. Rangotsav led by Gorakshpeeth is unique in its social message focus.

Yogi was unable to attend for 2 years during the Corona period
Gorakshpeethadhishwar has been participating in Holikotsav-Lord Narasimha Shobhayatra for decades only to share the affection of social harmony. Yogi, who led the procession from 1996 to 2019, did not take part in the Holikotsav in the year 2020 and 2021 to save people from corona infection. Last year, CM Yogi participated in Holika Dahan procession leaving Pandehata and Lord Narasimha Holikotsav Shobhayatra leaving Ghantaghar, after successfully dealing with corona around the world and bringing this global epidemic under control.

Holika Dahan debuts with Tilak of ashes
The Holikotsav in the temple of Gorakhnath begins with Holika Dahan or the application of Tilak to the ashes of Sammat, led by Gorakshpeethadhishwar. This tradition contains a special message. Holika Dahan makes us aware of the power of devotion from the mythological story of Bhakta Prahlad and Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

The message behind the application of Tilak with the ashes of Holika Dahan is to link the power of devotion to sociality. In this regard, the statement of Gorakshpeethadhishwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which he repeatedly repeats on such occasions, that “whenever devotion is at a high stage of its development, no discrimination, untouchability and untouchability will not be able to touch it”. Somewhere it establishes the basic spirit and thought of Gorakshpeeth.

Nanaji Deshmukh started Rangotsav Shobhayatra, Gorakshpeeth gave birth
The Lord Narasimha Rangotsav Shobhayatra in Gorakhpur was founded in 1944 by Nanaji Deshmukh, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh activist during his stay in Gorakhpur. The tradition of celebrating Holi with the ashes of Holika Dahan in the Gorakhnath temple continued long before that. This campaign by Nanaji aimed to remove profanity on the occasion of Holi. At Nanaji’s request, this procession also had a deep connection with Gorakshpeeth. On the instructions of Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath, Mahant Avedyanath started representing the Peeth in the procession and he became an integral part of the Holi of Gorakshpeeth.

Since 1996, Yogi Adityanath has made it a special festival of social harmony not only in Gorakhpur but all over Eastern Uttar Pradesh under his leadership. Now its fame is like Holi of Mathura-Vrindavan and people are waiting for procession of Lord Narasimha and RSS led by Yogi Adityanath. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh workers do path planning in the procession covering a distance of more than 7 kilometers and Gorakshpeethadhishwar mounted on Lord Narasimha’s color-drenched chariot exchanges greetings with everyone indiscriminately.

During it, the procession passes through various routes where the population of people of particular community is in abundance, people of all religions and sects welcome this procession and in their own way show social harmony and love in spilling colors and flowers. dispute of any kind during the morning journey till date, it also presents an example of Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb of Gorakhpur.
