Gorakshpeethadhishwar has been participating in Holikotsav-Lord Narasimha Shobhayatra for decades only to share the affection of social harmony. Yogi, who led the procession from 1996 to 2019, did not take part in the Holikotsav in the year 2020 and 2021 to save people from corona infection. Last year, CM Yogi participated in Holika Dahan procession leaving Pandehata and Lord Narasimha Holikotsav Shobhayatra leaving Ghantaghar, after successfully dealing with corona around the world and bringing this global epidemic under control.
Holika Dahan debuts with Tilak of ashes
The Holikotsav in the temple of Gorakhnath begins with Holika Dahan or the application of Tilak to the ashes of Sammat, led by Gorakshpeethadhishwar. This tradition contains a special message. At Nanaji’s request, this procession also had a deep connection with Gorakshpeeth. On the instructions of Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath, Mahant Avedyanath started representing the Peeth in the procession and he became an integral part of the Holi of Gorakshpeeth.
Since 1996, Yogi Adityanath has made it a special festival of social harmony not only in Gorakhpur but all over Eastern Uttar Pradesh under his leadership. Now its fame is like Holi of Mathura-Vrindavan and people are waiting for procession of Lord Narasimha and RSS led by Yogi Adityanath. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh workers do path planning in the procession covering a distance of more than 7 kilometers and Gorakshpeethadhishwar mounted on Lord Narasimha’s color-drenched chariot exchanges greetings with everyone indiscriminately.
