Hindu organizations oppose holding Shahjahan Urs at Taj Mahal, said they will execute Jalabhishek on Mahashivaratri

Sunil Saket, Agra: Hindu organizations went on strike Thursday to protest against the Urs to be held at the Taj Mahal. The police ended the strike within two hours. The protesters, who were on a hunger strike, demanded that Jalabhishek be performed at the Taj Mahal (Tejo Mahalaya) in Mahashivaratri. He used to say that the Taj Mahal is Sanatan’s holy place. Shahjahan’s Urs is being held without permission. They should also be allowed to worship.

Shah Jahan’s Urs begins on February 17 at the Taj Mahal. At 10 a.m., Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha workers dressed as Lord Shiva and Parvati started demonstrating at the ASI office. The protesters said they would go on a hunger strike. Mandal chairwoman Meena Diwakar said that where Lord Shiva’s Aarti should take place, Biryani is offered there. He said that in 2017 he performed aarti at the Taj Mahal.

Urs will not be celebrated

District official Saurabh Sharma said Urs children of Babar and Zafar would not be celebrated in India. The tradition of the jihadists should be banned here. If this is not done, Jalabhishek will be done by going to the Taj Mahal on Mahashivaratri.

Hindu leader arrested

At noon, ACM IV Rishi Roy and Inspector in Charge of Rakabganj Police Station Pradeep Kumar arrived at the scene. Protesters said Hindu leader Sanjay Jat had been arrested. The police did not tell them which police station they had taken them from. Police and administrative officials cleared the protesters from the area.
