Report – Anjali Singh Rajput

Luck now. When the male Himalayan black bear stopped eating and drinking in the zoo for the past few days, carers became concerned and now he is being treated in hospital. Similarly, a leopard at the zoo is also hospitalized due to illness. The bear’s condition is reportedly good and the zoo official says tourists will be able to see him again in a few days. Currently, a female bear is seen in the zoo’s bear enclosure, but the zookeeper says she looks quite restless due to her gait and demeanor.

Indeed, a couple of Himalayan black bears were brought from Nagaland to the famous Lucknow Zoological Park on March 16, 2022. This pair of a male and a female also attracted a lot of attention from tourists coming here . The age of the male Himalayan black bear is said to be over four years old. When the keeper arrived in the paddock to feed him on the morning of September 20, he looked very ill. The keeper immediately informed the doctors and the director of the zoo. Then Dr. Utkarsh Shukla and Dr. Vijendra reached the compound and examined it.

He was informed by the zoo that on September 21, the bear completely gave up the food and did not come out of its enclosure. Then the doctors admitted him to the hospital built inside the zoo. He has been treated here for two days and his condition is under control. Zoo director VK Mishra said he would recover soon. “It often happens in the zoo that if the animals are sick, they are treated. It is common. Just as humans stop eating and drinking when sick, similar symptoms are also seen in some animals.
