New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) Over 10 crores of cases were settled in the third National Lok Adalat held this year in which a settlement of Rs 90 billion was made, the National Legal Services Authority has said. New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) Over 10 crore in cases were settled in the third National Lok Adalat held this year in which a settlement of Rs 90 billion was made, the National Legal Services Authority has said.

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) said that on Saturday more than 75 lakh cases had been settled before the start of the trial. The third National Lok Adalat was held in all states and union territories of the country except Delhi. The Lok Adalat will be held in the nation’s capital Delhi on August 21.

Supreme Court Justice and current President of NALSA, Justice U. Tu. Lalit said, “The Lok Adalats make a significant contribution to the development of an inclusive society by making justice accessible to disadvantaged sections of society.

To ensure a cordial conduct of Lok Adalats across the country, Justice Lalit has been interacting with state legal services authorities to monitor developments in this regard.

“It is welcome that 75 lakh cases have been settled before the start of the trial and 25 lakh ongoing cases have been settled,” Nalsa said in a statement. Lok Adalats broke the disposal record of 10 million cases and settled Rs 90 billion there. This is a new record compared to previous years.

The settlement of criminal calls by videoconference at Lok Adalat was a historic moment, according to the statement.
