Luck now: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), mounted on the victory chariot since 2014, leaves no chance for its expansion. Now his eyes are on the remaining capital of opposition voices, including the Samajwadi party, so that he can remain invincible even in 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in the seminar organized on the occasion of the death anniversary of former SP MP Rajya Sabha Chaudhary Harmohan Singh Yadav in Kanpur on Monday would be a part of this exercise.

Chaudhary Harmohan Singh Yadav, a close friend of SP Boss Mulayam Singh Yadav, and his entire family have been special to SP. Harmohan died in 2012 and Monday is his 10th death anniversary. His son and MP Rajya Sabha outgoing SP Chaudhary Sukhram Singh Yadav organized the seminar. Previously, the Mulayam family participated in all the private-public events of this family, but this time the special guest is Prime Minister and star BJP activist Narendra Modi.

Modi’s participation is so special
The BJP, which won 73 seats in the UP in 2014, had won several seats in areas known as the Yadav belt in 2017 and 2019. Analysts believe the party was also supported in many places by the Yadavs, who are called the main voters of the SP. Above all, its signs were clearly visible during the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP, which dented the BSP’s grassroots vote, is now working on the possibility of tying the Yadavs to the party. However, so far in UP it has not been able to add a great Yadav leader to the opposition.

Prior to the Assembly elections, Sukhram’s son Mohit Yadav had joined the BJP, but Sukhram called it his son’s personal decision. However, after the assembly elections, Sukhram first met Modi and then UP CM Yogi Adityanath and publicly praised the government’s work. He had also pointed out the negligence on the part of the SP leadership. Modi’s participation in the event will further articulate the message that the senior leadership of the party-government is keen to highlight his honor and contribution beyond political differences and identities. If the message goes down, the voting base will be more fertile for the party, while the PS’s challenge to retain its vote base will also increase.

Efforts are underway to save and cultivate
The BJP’s efforts to grow its base and win 8-9% of the UP’s Yadav votes in its favor has been going on for five years. The campaign intensified further after winning three quarters of the seats in UP in 2017. In July of the same year, the chairman of the stand whose house Amit Shah chose to have food in the Badi Jugauli from Lucknow was from the Yadav community. The party had also given the command of Yuva Morcha to Subhash Yaduvansh. Recently, incumbent Chauri Chaura Sangeeta Yadav was sent to Rajya Sabha and Subhash Yaduvansh was sent to the Legislative Council. The victory of Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirhua’ of Azamgarh also gave a Yadav face to the party. Last year, many faces from government and state organization also joined the program organized to mark Chaudhary Harmohan’s 100th birthday.

Why is the Chaudhary Harimohan family important?
Chaudhary Harmohan Singh Yadav was one of the founding members of the SP. Harmohan, who was MLC three times, was also sent twice to the Rajya Sabha by the SP. When Mulayam Singh Yadav first became a CM, Harmohan was so influential that people called him “mini CM”. The ground for organizational and governmental decisions was often prepared at his kothi. He received the “Shaurya Chakra” for saving Sikh families during the 1984 riots.

He was the National Chairman of Yadav Akhil Bharatiya Yadav Mahasabha for a long time. This family has a lot of respect in its society. Harmohan’s son Chaudhary Sukhram Singh Yadav was also counted among the faces close to Moulayam. From 2004 to 2010, Sukh Ram was Chairman of the UP Legislative Council. At the same time, until July 4 of this month, he was an SP Rajya Sabha MP. Sukhram is the National Vice President of All India Yadav Mahasabha.
