Raju Srivastava made everyone laugh at BJP legislative party meeting: Asim Arun
Arun, who entered politics after leaving the Indian Police Service (IPS) and became state welfare minister after his first election, recounted the anecdote while paying tribute to Raju Srivastava.
Srivastava died on Wednesday after being admitted for 41 days at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi and was cremated on Thursday. He was 58 years old.
Srivastava was from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The Yogi Adityanath Government of Uttar Pradesh appointed him Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.
Arun recalled Srivastava saying that he used to watch shows of the famous comedian since 1980s and when he became police commissioner of Kanpur, he had the opportunity to get to know Raju Srivastava up close.
He wrote on social media: “The last show I saw was awesome. He was invited to a meeting of the newly elected BJP Legislative Party. As he started his presentation, he said: ‘The truncated people from Uttar Pradesh are sitting in front of me” and everyone in the meeting couldn’t stop laughing after hearing that.
Arun said, “Today he embarked on a new journey, but he will always be with us through his memories and his videos.”
In movies, etc., the phrase “Chunte Log” is usually used to refer to badass and negative elements, but Srivastava used the phrase in his own style for elected audiences and made them laugh.
