Etawah. Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a highway hub associated with Mahabharata era civilization. After the Agra-Lucknow highway and the Bundelkhand highway, the Chambal highway will also pass through Etawah in UP. Etawah is believed to be the first district in UP to be connected by three highways. Chambal Valley, once infamous for the infamous bandits, is now writing a new chapter of development. The administrative and police exercise has not only eradicated the bandits, now new paths of development and employment will also open up through the expressway.

The residents of the neighborhood are very happy after the news of Chambal Express passing through Etawah. People feel that with the three highways, a new path of development will start in Etawah, as well as new employment opportunities will also be opened. Former Union Minister of State and MP Prof. Ramshankar Katheria says Chambal highway will be linked to Bundelkhand highway in Nagaria Sarawa village near Bharthana in Etawah. It is estimated that around 8800 crores will be spent on its construction. The Chambal highway should be operational by the end of this year.

The Chambal Highway will cross three states

The Chambal highway, which will run from Kota in Rajasthan to Etawa in UP, covering a distance of about 400 km, will be constructed as four lanes. The construction of the Chambal highway will start from November this year. Former Union Minister of State for Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Etawah Party MP Bharatiya Janata Prof. Ramshankar Katheria has also come together to start this highway at the earliest. Chambal Expressway is a proposed six-lane highway in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The name Chambal Expressway is given because it will be built on the banks of the Chambal River. The highway will connect Kota in Rajasthan to Etawah in Uttar Pradesh via Sheopur and Morena districts. The cost of the proposed highway has been estimated at Rs 8,800 crore. The proposed 417 km long highway provides an alternative route from Kanpur to Kota via Madhya Pradesh and then joins the Delhi-Mumbai corridor. From Kota in Rajasthan, it will connect to the Bundelkhand to Etawah highway of UP via Madhya Pradesh. The proposed Chambal Expressway project will provide cross connectivity.

Who will benefit from Chambal Expressway?

The proposed Chambal highway could be a game-changer mainly for the tribal communities in the Chambal region and the poor living in remote areas, as it is considered the most backward region in the country. Moreover, farmers in the three states i.e. MP, Rajasthan and UP will be the most benefited as they will be able to send their produce to markets in Delhi, Mumbai. It will also contribute to the industrialization and development of the Chambal division of Madhya Pradesh. Maharaj Singh Bhadauria says Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given Etawah another gift. This gift will change the bad image of Etawah. The Chambal highway will start from Kota in Rajasthan, which will connect via Madhya Pradesh to the Bundelkhand highway at Etawah in Uttar Pradesh. This highway comes out of the inaccessible rugged terrain. Rajendra Singh Bhadauria of Udi says that after the construction of Chambal Express, new dimensions of employment and development will also be created.
