Dhaka:
At least six people were killed and several others injured in a fire that broke out on Saturday at an oxygen plant in southeastern Bangladesh.
He said the death toll could rise as rescue operations were underway at the Sitakunda plant, 40 km (25 miles) from the south-eastern port city of Chittagong.
A fire service official said it was not immediately clear what caused the blaze.
“Six bodies have been recovered from the scene,” Shahadat Hussain, a local government official, told Reuters. He said that the rescue operation is going on.
Police officer Nayhanul Bari quoted eyewitnesses as saying that a loud bang was heard which shook an area within a radius of two kilometres.
