Can the UK live with Covid? Minister Michael Gove says no; Warning of “tough weeks ahead”

Covid in the UK: The UK is seeing an increase in Covid cases led by Omicron Edition.

British hospitals are still under pressure and the country is not in a position to say it can live with COVID-19, senior minister Michael Gove said on Monday.

Asked how long the rapid tests would be provided for free, Gove, who is the housing minister, said they were an important tool in containing a pandemic that was not yet over.

“We are moving into a situation where it is possible to say we can live with COVID and the pressure on the NHS and vital public services is easing,” he told Sky News.

“But it is absolutely important to recognize that we are not yet … there will be some tough weeks ahead.”
