CNN fired veteran anchor and correspondent Chris Cuomo, the cable news channel said on Saturday, amid an investigation into his involvement in helping brother Andrew Cuomo, the former New York governor, face charges of sexual misconduct.

Chris Cuomo was suspended from CNN a few days before his termination.

“We have retained a reputable law firm to conduct review, and effective immediately,” said a statement posted on CNN’s official communications Twitter account.

“In the process of that review, additional information has emerged.”

The termination comes after documents surfaced showing that Cuomo, who anchored the news slot at 9:00 p.m., advised his politician brother, who was deemed too close for comfort by his employer.
