“Sorry for the disruption today – I know how much you trust our services,” said Mark Zuckerberg.

Washington:

Apologizing for the disruption to the services of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, the tech giant’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said that the services are returning online on Tuesday.

“Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger are now back online,” Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post.

“Sorry for the disruption today – I know how much you trust our services to stay connected to the people you care about,” he said.

WhatsApp said on Twitter early Tuesday: “Sorry to all those who haven’t been able to use WhatsApp today. We are slowly and carefully getting WhatsApp working again. Thank you very much for your patience.” Thank you. We will continue to keep you updated when we have more information to share.”

According to Sputnik, users began reporting that Instagram, WhatsApp and other services under the Facebook corporate umbrella are normally accessible for the first time since around 11:30 EST on Monday, when reports of outages and disrupted services started pouring in.

Earlier, DownDetector, a site that monitors reports of outages across the Internet, said the Facebook service outage was the largest it has ever seen.

“The largest outage we’ve ever seen is on DownDetector, with more than 10.6 million problem reports from around the world,” the company said in a post on Monday.

The US led the world in the number of reports for disrupted service at over 1.7 million, followed by Germany with 1.3 million reports and the Netherlands at 9,15,000.

Monday’s shutdown has rendered many services under the Facebook corporate umbrella inaccessible, including Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger.

Meanwhile, Telegram said on Twitter that its Messenger users in some areas may be having problems loading chats and receiving notifications amid a massive outage at Facebook.

It said the company apologizes for the inconvenience.
