Facebook Experiment with Audio Made Popular Clubhouse, with Hotline

Facebook on Wednesday launched an experimental online forum called Hotline, which the social media giant attempted to keep up with with live audio trends created by the likes of Clubhouse.

The giants of social media are scrambling to prevent users from being tempted only by online rivals.

The Facebook application is essentially a spin on Reddit’s Ask Me Anything Sessions and the clubhouse, an audio-only social media sensation launched a year ago that has caused a boom during the epidemic.

The hotline provides users with a mix of voice, text, and video options to participate in online discussions with hosts.

Users can ask questions in writing, which is not possible at the club house. Speakers, meanwhile, can choose who is invited “on stage” to speak.

A Facebook spokesperson told AFP, “With the hotline, we’re hoping to understand how interactive, live multimedia can help people learn in areas such as Q&US professional skills.”

Sessions headliners will have the option to turn on their web cameras, and can also remove abusive comments from text chats, Facebook said, confirming earlier reports on the website TechCrunch.

As TechCrunch reports, Facebook activists will moderate hotline incidents and evict people who violate the rules.
